RACHEL'S VINEYARD
(A Psychological and Spiritual Journey of Post-Abortion Healing)
Rachel's Vineyard is a Catholic response to the grief and loss of abortion. The Retreat weekends are modeled on the Spirituality of the Easter Triduum and run Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Retreatants are post-abortive men and women of any faith, or none.
A Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat is an opportunity for healing and reconciliation for anyone who has struggled with the emotional or spiritual pain of an abortion. During the weekend Retreatants, the Retreat Team and a Priest gather as the suffering Body of Christ, and through prayer and the Sacraments, minister to each other in His name. The weekend focuses on God's forgiveness, compassion and mercy. There are psychological exercises which help work through repressed grief and anger and many spiritual exercises to help grieve the loss of an unborn child and to accept God's forgiveness. The Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation and Anointing are available and there are times of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. The retreat concludes with a Memorial Service and Mass of Resurrection.
Rachel’s Vineyard is a totally ‘Catholic’ experience and is open to all. It is not necessary to share a Catholic understanding of the Eucharist in order to be present and participate in prayerful Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.
Rachel’s Vineyard is coming to New Zealand in 2010.
